早蛩啼复歇，残灯灭又明。
隔窗知夜雨，芭蕉先有声。

The chirps of crickets, till dawn, rise and fall,
The oil lamp dims, then flickers back to light.
The panes shut, but I know night rain did call,
The plantains weep — I hear it with clear sight.
