This movie is based on a book called Angelique, the Marquis of Angels, and the main guy is not 60 years old; he is scary at first due to his scars, but then intelligent, dark, sarcastic, and hot. It is disappointing that the filmmakers adapted an incredible book into a completely terrible movie. A much older French film based on the book is better because it doesn't change the story much. The book is the first in a series that shaped my high school years, and the books are truly amazing, filled with romance, adventure, and strong female characters. You can see Louis XIV's court and the society's details there, and in later books she goes to Persia and America. I was initially excited to hear that they wanted to make a new movie, but my enthusiasm faded after I saw it. If they want to change the story that much, they should write their own story instead.
