Hi. Regarding the Chinese businessmen in Sandakan who were arrested and killed by the Japanese during the war, I want to explain the historical reasons. These five were among 28 Sandakan prominent individuals murdered by the Japanese on 27 May 1945. It was during that day when a tragedy occurred that following the American PT boat attack on Sandakan. At that time, the Americans did not landed and they soon departed. The Japanese at were taken in by the attack, and in retribution for that, they rounded up Sandakan prominent individuals. They murdered 28 on that night.
