The human brain has a limited cognitive capacity, and as decisions multiply, this capacity can be overwhelmed, leading to a decline in decision quality. This phenomenon, known as decision fatigue, occurs when mental resources are depleted, resulting in slower decision-making, reliance on shortcuts, and increased errors.
