2007年7月14，北京朝阳区，首届全国钢管舞公开赛热辣登场。本次比赛中的参赛选手中，热爱时尚健身运动的业余爱好者居多，印象中的夜店钢管舞娘则很少见。这也使本次比赛具有了相当深厚的群众基础。据悉，钢管舞健身运动在京城已日渐火暴，开办钢管舞健身俱乐部的经营者也获利颇丰。
本次比赛的参赛选手中设女子单人、男子单人、及外国友人组三个组。但三个组中，参赛者最多的还是首推女子单人组。来自全国20个省、自治区和直辖市的
50多名辣妹打扮火暴，动作前卫妩媚，引得现场观众大饱眼福。但采访得知，这些辣妹们大部分都是钢管舞的爱好者，而非职业选手。她们平时一般都有本职工作，为了强身健体的目的来参加本次比赛。
