而迈克尔在2002年把小儿子抱出阳台，向群众打招呼的危险动作，更是差点吓死一票人，而且迈克尔手上这个无辜的小朋友，究竟是他和谁的爱情结晶，竟然也没有人知道。
不过，迈克尔最引起争议的行为，还是他对儿童的特殊喜好，他不仅在梦幻园盖起一座游乐场、招待儿童玩耍，还经常与一群小朋友同床共枕，因而牵扯上性侵儿童的罪名。

根据《洛杉矶时报》今天报导，“流行乐之王” 迈克尔杰克逊周四因为心脏病发作昏迷，在洛杉矶一间医院逝世，CNN则证实他是於周四下午2:26分被宣告死亡，得年50岁，他曾经来台巡回演唱过，他的骤逝令歌迷相当震惊伤心。
《洛杉矶时报》引述市政府和执法部门消息说，周四当地时间下午12时26分左右，救护人员抵达迈克尔杰克逊加州的家中时，他已没有呼吸，被送往加州大学洛杉矶分校医疗中心抢救，不久医生正式宣布这位前流行乐坛巨星不治身亡。
CNN则报导求证到他正式宣布死亡的时间为周四下午2:26分，根据迈克尔杰克逊家族律师麦莱恩说，他是由迈克尔杰克逊的哥哥口中得知迈克尔于周四早上在西加州家倒下的消息，911救护车也证实在周四中午12.21分接获电话， 送往加州大学洛杉矶分校医疗中心，但不愿意说明病人状况。
医疗中心每个入口都被保全封锁，医院的职员也封口不说，大批人士在外守候，在他家门外有警察抵达，道路封锁。群众只能在外守候。
一度外传他因为一再漂白皮肤已罹患皮肤癌，5月迈克尔在美国加州比佛利山公开现身，罕见没有戴口罩，以全脸示人，企图消除有关他罹患皮肤癌的传言。
他原拟7月8日在伦敦举行演唱会“This is it”，这场演唱会3月即开始预售，引起抢购，证明他魅力未减，但后来却以技术问题未臻完善为由宣布部分延期，改为7月13日，其他7月份举行的三场表演，延期到明年3月初举办，但这一次他的粉丝永远等不到他出席了。
