美国佛罗里达州拉果市（Largo）在6月25日遭到龙卷风侵袭，76岁的梅特勒（Deborah Mettler）当时躲在屋内，仍遭时速110英里（约177公里）的龙卷风“连屋带人”吹至空中。幸运的是15秒过后她平安落地，仅有脸部、四肢擦伤，梅特勒惊呼：“不知道怎么回事，我突然就在空中翻来滚去...”

邻居凯西（Kathy）向当地媒体WFTS-TV提供住家外侧监视器画面，梅特勒的屋子被强风吹离地面约15秒后重摔回地，场面相当惊险。邻居在混乱中发现梅特勒，赶紧将她扶起，带离灾难现场。凯西表示：“她能活下来，真的令人难以置信！”

梅特勒受访表示：“这就像《绿野仙踪》（The Wizard of OZ）的场景！但我当时没意识到自己真的被吹到空中，我在房内翻滚，被撞来撞去。”她心有余悸的说：

“如果我还待在那间房没有试着逃出，不知道会发生什么事……”
