《纽约邮报》报导，事件发生在13日下午5时50分许，29岁大提琴家佛瑞斯特（Iain. S. Forrest）在34街－先驱广场地铁站表演大提琴，一名身著芥末色外套、红色围巾跟黑色手套的女子，原先靠在他身后的柱子滑手机，突然走上前拿起地上的金属保温瓶，直接往佛瑞斯特后脑猛砸，接著快步离开，全程被佛瑞斯特录下并透过社群平台PO网。
佛瑞斯特表示，该女当时逃至附近的梅西百货（Macy’s），而警方最后并未逮到她，盼能透过这段影片，找到该女子的下落。佛瑞斯特也说，这已经是他一年内，在纽约地铁表演所遇到的第二次攻击，因而决定将无限期暂停之后的演出。
