中国最大火箭“长征五号B”5日发射后，成为近30年来最大的失控重返大气层物体，昨（12）日经美军追踪残骸掉落西非附近的大西洋海域，现有外媒踢爆，来自该火箭的12公尺金属物体击中非洲国家象牙海岸（Republic of Côte d'Ivoire）。
哈佛天体物理学家麦克道威尔（Jonathan McDowell）在推特表示，1个12公尺长的金属物体坠入象牙海岸当地村落，该物底掉落的位置，位于长征五号B型火箭的再入轨道上，与火箭重返大气层的位置距离2100公裡，该部位残骸在掉落过程中可能已被空气“切片”（磨擦燃烧之意）。
非洲媒体《Aminata 24》报导指出，这个10多公尺的的金属物体从天而降，目前正在等待政府进行调查，提供民众更多资讯，以避免非洲人民的生命受到危害。
中国外交部发言人赵立坚今（13日）主持例行记者会，对于《美国有线电视新闻网》（CNN）提问是否能证实“长征五号B”击中非洲国家？赵立坚仅回应，“我不了解你说的情况，建议你向主管部门询问”。
