根据中国科学院对地观测与数字地球科学中心派往青海玉树震区遥感飞机传回的第一批高分辨率遥感图像，玉树州结古镇房屋倒塌严重，全部遥感监测区域范围房屋倒塌率达到61.7%。房屋倒塌比率与房屋建筑类型有关，框架结构楼房倒塌相对较少，平房倒塌严重。监测结果表明，80%以上的平房倒塌；各类企事业办公及小区楼房等框架结构建筑大部分经受住了地震考验，完全倒塌的房屋较少。
