古龙（1938年6月7日－1985年9月21日），本名熊耀华，笔名“古龙”，知名武侠小说家。祖籍江西南昌，幼时曾住过汉口。生肖属虎，1938年6月7日出生于香港（户口登记1941年出生，另有1937年出生的说法），1985年9月21日病逝于台湾。
古龙十二三岁时随父母定居台湾。师院附中（今师大附中）初中部、成功中学（高中）毕业。就读成功时，父亲熊飞（熊鹏声）因外遇抛弃妻儿，不久，古龙亦离家出走，饱经人情冷暖。淡江英专（即淡江大学前身）肄业后与舞女郑月霞（莉莉）同居于台北县瑞芳镇郑家，开始从事武侠小说创作，1960年至 1963年是古龙的潜伏阶段或试笔阶段。在此之前，台湾武坛三剑客卧龙生、诸葛青云、司马翎名噪一时，古龙曾替他们代笔。
1964年至1966年发表的《浣花洗剑录》向日本时代小说取经，另辟武侠蹊径。《武林外史》奠定古龙武侠小说的“浪子”形象。1967年所写的《铁血传奇》，集武侠、文艺、侦探、推理于一身，系以电影第七号情报员为本。古龙一生创作六十余部武侠小说，其中《浣花洗剑录》、《楚留香传奇》、《多情剑客无情剑》、《绝代双骄》、《萧十一郎》、《七种武器》、《陆小凤传奇》、《三少爷的剑》、《欢乐英雄》、《白玉老虎》等作品均广受读者欢迎。
到了创作后期，他依然不断求变，多次说“武侠小说到了要变的时候”。他在小说渗入散文和新诗的句法，写出《天涯．明月．刀》等小说。1979年《英雄无泪》完成后进入“衰退阶段”。
古龙嗜酒牛饮，1977年染上肝病，健康逐渐走下坡，1980年在北投吟松阁饮宴时遭人砍伤，失血2000cc。输入带有肝炎的血液，患上了肝炎[1]。1982年5月，古龙与华视签了两年的制作人合约。1985年9月21日因肝硬化引起食道瘤大出血，下午六时撒手人寰，享年48岁。出殡时，友人林清玄在他的棺材里放了48瓶XO酒陪葬。其中一副挽联是：“小李飞刀成绝响 人间不见楚留香”。
古龙生前情归多处，学生时代与舞女郑月霞同居，后来又迷上舞女叶雪和日本留学生千代子，叶雪是他明媒正娶的的第一任妻子，未几离婚，育有一子。 1976年又与梅宝珠结婚。1980年创办宝龙电影公司，未几又离婚。于秀玲是古龙的最后一个女人，陪伴至古龙病逝。古龙的弟子丁情说：“因为古大侠寂寞，所以他便追求新奇，所以他的婚姻不能长久。古大侠生性是浪子。”
古龙去世后，小说的版权纠纷开始由法院审理。今非婚生之长子郑小龙和婚生子熊正达（梅宝珠之子）已握手言和。
2005年，台湾淡江大学举办第九届文学与美学国际学术研讨会，主题为武侠小说，集中讨论古龙的作品。之后林保淳编了一部论文集，由学生书局出版：《傲世鬼才一古龙：古龙与武侠小说国际学术研讨会论文集》（ISBN 9571512974 ）。
