TV)。它是轻、薄型家电产品下一代的首选，它的大画屏、高画质、色彩逼真、画面动作流畅、不闪烁等特点，给人们带来了家庭影院的高级享受。同时，它还有数据端子，能外接计算机，除了看电视听音乐外，还可以上网。
据专家介绍，等离子电视(Plasma
TV)是应用日光灯的发光原理制造出来的大型电视荧屏，因为日光灯在通电后，灯内的气体呈电浆状态，其实就是一种电浆照明器。在等离子电视(Plasma
TV)中，装有数十万个细小灯泡，小灯泡内装有惰性混合气体，外在涂有红、绿、蓝三种颜色的荧光物质，那些类似日光灯的小灯泡就是一个个像素，在电流的作用下，显示出色彩画卷。因此在某种意义上，这个由小日光灯组成的显示器，就是电浆显示器。
当然，电浆显示器与日光灯有所不同，日光灯是以常温液态的少量水银所放出的254埃紫外光照射荧光物质而发光，电浆显示器内的小灯泡并不装水银，只填充氖气和氙气之类的的紫外线，照射荧光物质而发光。由此可见，与传统笨重的显像管电视相比，等离子电视(Plasma
TV)不但显得轻盈了许多，另外还有画面大、全平面且不受磁场干扰等优点。
以常规的尺寸为例，29英寸的显像管电视，机身厚度已超过50厘米，重量超过30公斤，如果画面加大，重量越大。而42英寸的等离子电视(Plasma
TV)，重量仅30公斤，厚度在10厘米以内，同尺寸的体积，只有传统显像管电视的1/10，重量只有1/6。不过，对于小尺寸荧屏来说，现有的液晶电视(LCD

TV)。它的画质优点是高亮度，适合在明亮的室内观看，色彩对比清晰，动态范围大，真实而不闪烁。而且景像切换时间快、减少信号干扰，画面的动作流畅。多数等离子电视(Plasma
TV)还增设数据端子，可以外接计算机作为输出工具，让计算机43的画面输出到电视169的画面也不产生变质。
等离子电视(Plasma TV)刚问世时是超前的产品，两年前刚面市的价格非常惊人贵到1万到3万美元左右,
但是市场在短短的两年之内由于消费者需求急剧增加,目前美国市面上的价格已经急速下降到介于1500美元-4,000美元之间，显然足以让普通消费者产生购买念头。预计在2年后将全面改为数字节目播出，届时，等离子电视(Plasma
