ZZ: We usually take it for granted when speaking our first language. This sense of security disappears when we speak a new language. Any word, something like a preposition, can show if you know the language or not. That is why i said 中文里的啦，吗，么，呢，呀，啊，嘛，了等等其实是很有讲究的。（AGREE!!!）

As we know, Chinese dialects, or how people talk, vary invredibly.In this case, gender also plays important role, it seems. :))
But what you and "mermaid" said was perfectly understandable, nothing wrong in grammar or semantic structure.
Specifically, maybe i am a guy, i would say it differently.

to make a poem a piece of art, which will not bore the reader to death after two or three readings, the poet/writer has to find the essence in all human languages....the more one knows, the better!!!!!
sometimes, the visual form of the words in a poem is inseparable from the content of the poem....
short poems have more potential dangers in using redundant words such as various modifiers....

it makes me think different aspects of these two languages....
regarding tense, Egnlish seems to be more complicated than Chinese:
[be]am, is, are, were, was, am being, was/were being, have/has/had been!!!!
also, the verb changes following these "be" verbs :))
