这起案件在佛罗里达州皮尔斯堡联邦法院进行审判，为期3天的陪审团遴选工作于8日开始，随后将进行为期一个月的庭审，劳思选择自我辩护。
现年59岁的劳思面临5项指控，包括企图暗杀总统候选人、为实施暴力犯罪而持有枪支等。检察官指控劳思在2024年9月15日，携带一把装有20发子弹的步枪和防弹板，藏匿在西棕榈滩川普国际高尔夫俱乐部6号果岭附近，企图射杀川普。
但劳思对所有指控均不认罪。
