两岁时拜少林寺第二十九代接法传人释永信为师，赐法名：释小龙。

小龙自幼乖巧伶俐，善舞枪弄棒。他刚学会走路，就常随其父(陈同山，现任中国嵩山少林寺武术学校校长)进少林寺参禅拜佛。特别是武僧们那宏大的练功场面，深深吸引了他，常使他流连忘返。自小龙步入武坛以来，在父亲言传身教下，进步神速，并掌握了少林拳法、腿法、步法等少林基本功，学会了少林同臂拳、醉剑、醉拳、少林棍、五行拳等传统套路和规定套路。在1992年中国郑州国际少林武术节表演中，获得少林同臂拳、罗汉棍两项优秀奖，一举成名，并受到影视界的关注。

　　年幼的释小龙，聪明好学，在父亲及师兄的启导下，勤学苦练，不论是刮风下雨、烈日曝晒，还是三九严寒，他都坚持练功，终于以惊人的毅力、高超的技艺，赢得了世人的赞叹。1999年6月，小小年纪的释小龙，随嵩山少林寺佛学文化访问团访问台湾地区，被台湾地区报纸、杂志誉为来自大陆的“和平使者”、“神奇的少林龙子”。从此,小龙的名气越来越大，影祝演艺界的客商纷纷与他签订合约。1993年7月台湾长宏影视公司与小龙签定合约，8月与台湾著名歌星林志颖合拍了第一部影片(旋风小子)。1993参加了河南电视台少儿联欢晚会。1994年4月与香港吴孟达、郑少秋合拍了《新乌龙院》，8月与台湾影星金成武、叶全真在美国拍摄了影片《中国龙》，在中国拍摄了《武尊少林》、《少林雄风》等一系列电视片.

　　1995年，小龙在香港与吴孟达合拍了《无敌反斗星》，与葛民辉、邱淑贞合拍了《赌圣》，与台湾钟镇涛、香港张敏合拍了《十兄弟》，与香港影星元彪、罗家英合拍了《龙在少林》。这一年小龙还应香港电影协会的邀请，作为十四届电影“金像奖”特邀佳宾，为世界著名影星成龙颁奖；在天津举行的第四十三届世界乒乓球锦标赛开幕式上，表演“中国功夫”1996年小龙参加了中央电视台举办的“九六元宵节文艺晚会”4月又在香港与成惠安、方芳合拍了《黄金岛历险记》等影片。

　　随着年龄的增长，释小龙的武艺和演技也一天比一天高。如今小龙已成为海内外闻名的童星。目前，小龙又在忙着拍摄40集电视连续剧《乌龙院》，他在剧中担任主角。
