Terry Matthews 悲哀地惊呼: 加拿大正在失去其高技术革新创业环境, 企业及其技术正在流失, 责任在于没有政府的支持.

Terry Matthews 在最近接受Canadian Business Magazine 采访时表示, 由于政府没有扶持政策和资助, 加拿大的技术革新和新兴创业企业目前已走头无路, 陷入绝境. 而政府最高层却袖手旁观视而不见.
Terry 说: “我在(革新创业)这一行40年, 还重来没有见过这么糟糕的情况”.
Terry Matthews是加拿大最受尊敬的高科技企业家. 他早年在渥太华创办了Mitel, Newbridge Networks及其相关的40几家高新技术企业. 创办高科技工业园Kanata Research Park 作为新创企业孵化器. Newbridge出售给电讯设备巨头Alcatel之后, Terry主要通过Celtic House 风险基金投创新兴公司. 每年平均创办4家高技术革新新兴企业. 他还在渥太华以及英国威尔士拥有地产,Golf 球场和商务旅馆. 他对渥太华首都地区高科技区 (所谓的”北方硅谷”) 的贡献首屈一指, 堪称”北方硅谷之父”.
Terry是一个及其乐观的人. 在互联网泡沫后”北方硅谷”一片萧条的2001-02 年, 办公楼及旅馆空房率空前. 渥太华的其他扩建项目纷纷停建,下马. 在高科技行业的最低潮中, Terry 仍然坚持继续兴建他设在”北方硅谷”核心的商务会议及旅馆中心Brookstreet Hotel. 并按时建成开张. 记得我当时在Brookstreet Hotel 参加一个小型研讨会, Terry Matthews 意外地到会讲话, 为旅馆开张捧场. 他解释为什么在这么恶劣的情形下开张, 是因为对高科技的未来,对北方硅谷有信心.
