昨天在教会，领会的长老带领我们读了诗篇第 139 篇， 这是大卫在旷野里躲避扫罗捉拿期间所写的诗：
139:1 耶和华阿，你已经鉴察我，认识我。
O Lord, you have knowledge of me, searching out all my secrets.
139:2 我坐下，我起来，你都晓得。你从远处知道我的意念。
You have knowledge when I am seated and when I get up, you see my thoughts from far away.
139:3 我行路，我躺卧，你都细察，你也深知我一切所行的。
You keep watch over my steps and my sleep, and have knowledge of all my ways.
139:4 耶和华阿，我舌头上的话，你没有一句不知道的。
For there is not a word on my tongue which is not clear to you, O Lord.
139:5 你在我前后环绕我，按手在我身上。
I am shut in by you on every side, and you have put your hand on me.
139:6 这样的知识奇妙，是我不能测的。至高，是我不能及的。
Such knowledge is a wonder greater than my powers; it is so high that I may not come near it.
139:7 我往那里去躲避你的灵。 我往那里逃能躲避你的面 ?
Where may I go from your spirit? how may I go in flight from you?
139:8 我若升到天上，你在那里。我若在阴间下榻，你也在那里。
If I go up to heaven, you are there: or if I make my bed in the underworld, you are there.
139:9 我若展开清晨的翅膀，飞到海极居住，
If I take the wings of the morning, and go to the farthest parts of the sea;
139:10 就是在那里，你的手必引导我，你的右手，也必扶持我。
Even there will I be guided by your hand, and your right hand will keep me.
139:11 我若说，黑暗必定遮蔽我，我周围的亮光必成为黑夜。
If I say, Only let me be covered by the dark, and the light about me be night;
139:12 黑暗也不能遮蔽我使你不见，黑夜却如白昼发亮。黑暗和光明，在你看都是一样。
Even the dark is not dark to you; the night is as bright as the day: for dark and light are the same to you.
139:13 我的肺腑是你所造的。我在母腹中，你已覆庇我。
My flesh was made by you, and my parts joined together in my mother's body.
139:14 我要称谢你，因我受造，奇妙可畏。你的作为奇妙，这是我心深知道的。
I will give you praise, for I am strangely and delicately formed; your works are great wonders, and of this my soul is fully conscious.
139:15 我在暗中受造，在地的深处被联络。那时，我的形体并不向你隐藏。
My frame was not unseen by you when I was made secretly, and strangely formed in the lowest parts of the earth.
139:16 我未成形的体质，你的眼早已看见了。你所定的日子，我尚未度一日，你都写在你的册上了。
Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book all my days were recorded, even those which were purposed before they had come into being.
139:17 神阿，你的意念向我何等宝贵。其数何等众多！
How dear are your thoughts to me, O God! how great is the number of them!
139:18 我若数点，比海沙更多。我睡醒的时候，仍和你同在。
If I made up their number, it would be more than the grains of sand; when I am awake, I am still with you.

139:23 神阿，求你鉴察我，知道我的心思，试炼我，知道我的意念。
O God, let the secrets of my heart be uncovered, and let my wandering thoughts be tested:
139:24 看在我里面有什么恶行没有，引导我走永生的道路。
See if there is any way of sorrow in me, and be my guide in the eternal way.
这段诗篇以前也读过， 每次读感觉不同。 昨天给我深刻非常印象的是这几句：
“ 我往那里去躲避你的灵。 我往那里逃能躲避你的面 ? 我若升到天上，你在那里，我若在阴间下榻，你也在那里。”
“我若展开清晨的翅膀，飞到海极居住，就是在那里，你的手必引导我，你的右手，也必扶持我。
我若说，黑暗必定遮蔽我，我周围的亮光必成为黑夜。黑暗也不能遮蔽我使你不见，黑夜却如白昼发亮。黑暗和光明，在你看都是一样。”
我过去读经的印象， 上帝是光，救主是光，不会临到黑暗之处，不会停在黑暗之地。 但在这里大卫相信的是：上帝与我同在，即使我在黑暗之处， 即使我下到阴间， 上帝仍然和我同在， 引导 我走他的义路。
大卫写这些诗篇的背景是在旷野荒漠中，当时他受到扫罗的追杀， 因为先知撒母耳已经按上帝的旨意宣告大卫是神所选的代替扫罗的王，并且，大卫勇敢杀退以色列劲敌非利士的巨人歌利亚的行为也已使他赢得民心，威胁到扫罗王的权力。大权在握的扫罗， 想要置大卫于死地以维护自己在以色列的统治权威。
大卫孤身一人， 被王追杀，流落荒野之时， 能写下这样的诗句， 他对上帝的信心之大让人称奇！ 他相信上帝与他同在， 纵使他不能解救自己， 上帝与他同在， 无所不能的上帝会保护他不受伤害，解救他脱离敌手。
扫罗后来死于与非利士人的战争，大卫终于脱离了他的追杀， 于是他又写了一首诗赞美上帝救他脱敌手，这首诗记载在旧约撒母尔纪下那卷经文中：
“ 22:17 他从高天伸手抓住我 ，把我从大水中拉上来。
He sent from on high, he took me, pulling me out of great waters.
22:18 他救我脱离我的劲敌和那些恨我的人 ，因为他们比我强盛 。
He made me free from my strong hater, from those who were against me, because they were stronger than I.
22:19 我遭遇灾难的日子， 他们来攻击我。 但耶和华是我的倚靠。
They came on me in the day of my trouble: but the Lord was my support.
22:20 他又领我到宽阔之处。 他拯 救我 ，因他喜悦我。
He took me out into a wide place; he was my saviour because he had delight in me.
22:21 耶和华按着我的公义报答我， 按着我手中的清洁赏赐我。
The Lord gives me the reward of my righteousness, because my hands are clean before him.

22:29 耶和华阿，你是我的灯。 耶和华必照明我的黑暗 。
For you are my light, O Lord; and the Lord will make the dark bright for me.
22:30 我借着你冲入敌军，借着我的神跳过墙垣。
By your help I have made a way through the wall which was shutting me in: by the help of my God I have gone over a wall.
22:31 至于神，他的道是完全的。耶和华的话是炼净的。凡投靠他的，他便作他们的盾牌。
As for God, his way is all good: the word of the Lord is tested; he is a safe cover for all those who put their faith in him.
22:32 除了耶和华，谁是神呢？ 除了我们的神 ， 谁是磐石呢 ？
For who is God but the Lord? and who is a Rock but our God?
22:33 神是我坚固的保障。 他引导完全人行他的路 。
God puts a strong band about me, guiding me in a straight way.
22:34 他使我的脚快如母鹿的蹄 ， 又使我在高处安稳 。
He makes my feet like roes' feet, and puts me on high places.
22:35 他教导我的手能以争战 ，甚至我的膀臂能开铜弓 。
He makes my hands expert in war, so that a bow of brass is bent by my arms.
22:36 你把你的救恩给我作盾牌 。 你的仁慈使我为大 。
You have given me the breastplate of your salvation, and your mercy has made me great.
22:37 你使我脚下的地步宽阔。 我的脚未曾滑跌 。
You have made my steps wide under me, so that my feet make no slip.
22:38 我追赶我的仇敌 ， 灭绝了他们， 未灭以先 ， 我没有归回。
I go after my haters and overtake them; not turning back till they are all overcome.
22:39 我灭绝了他们 ， 打伤了他们 ， 使他们不能起来。 他们都倒在我的脚下 。
I have sent destruction on them and given them wounds, so that they are not able to get up: they are stretched under my feet.
22:40 因为你曾以力量束我的腰， 使我能争战 。 你也使那起来攻击我的都服在我以下 。
For I have been armed by you with strength for the fight: you have made low under me those who came out against me.

22:48 这位神就是那为我伸冤 ， 使众民服在我以下的 。
It is God who sends punishment on my haters, and puts peoples under my rule.
22:49 你救我脱离仇敌 ， 又把我举起 ， 高过那些起来功击我的 。 你救我 脱离强暴的人 。
He makes me free from my haters: I am lifted up over those who come up against me: you have made me free from the violent man.
22:50 耶和华阿 ， 因此我要在外邦中称谢你 ， 歌颂你的名 。
Because of this I will give you praise, O Lord, among the nations, and will make a song of praise to your name.
22:51 耶和华赐极大的救恩给他所立的王 ， 施慈爱给他的受膏者 ， 就是给大卫和他的后裔 ， 直到永远。
Great salvation does he give to his king; he has mercy on the king of his selection, David, and on his seed for ever.
大卫的思想是“ 主按我的善良和我双手的清白来赏赐我”，“主使我的黑暗变成光明”，“你救我脱离仇敌 ， 又把我举起 ， 高过那些起来功击我的” ， “主是我的坚固堡垒， 他引导我前行”， “我要称谢你， 歌颂你的名”。
这些思想是大卫信的核心，他拥有的是上帝的意象， the vision of God, 就是：他在任何情况下都能看到上帝的作用。响应上帝的呼招，靠着上帝和我同在的信心， 他成为了以色列最伟大的君王。
牧师说， 能克服困难，成就大业的人，心中必有上帝的意象， The vision of God 。 他们知道自己从事的事情是上帝的事业， 他们知道上帝和他们同在， 保护他们， 应许这事业总会成功。 遇到困难也不用惧怕。摩西，大卫， 耶利米，以赛亚，保罗的经历无一例外， 他们都曾经从最初的自我怀疑走向成就大事。
我很喜欢这个犹太裔英文老牧师的讲道， 他虽然已经退休，但每次只要他回来讲道， 总是能够融会贯通地讲解圣经的人物和思想， 大大地激励人们的很容易失落的信心。
每个人都需要得到上帝的鼓励。也许上帝知道这一点，他顾惜我们在黑暗中挣扎的心，及时地通过老牧师来清楚地讲解圣经里这些激励人心的故事和诗篇。
