美国越战飞行员去世，曾在中国被囚五年

越战期间曾在一个中共监狱度过五年半时光的海军中校罗伯特·J·弗林(Robert J. Flynn)于5月15日在佛罗里达州彭萨科拉去世，享年76岁。弗林在执行一次轰炸任务时被击落，此后几乎一直处在单独监禁的状态。弗林中校是越战期间被中国人拘押的已知的仅有两名美国军人之一。
他的妻子凯茜(Kathy)说，死因是心肌梗塞。
当时还是中尉的弗林是轰炸领航员，1967年8月21日，他参加了对北越首都河内附近一个铁路机务段的空袭，期间他所在的双人A-6入侵者遭到了攻击。该地距中国边境约75英里（约合120公里）。五角大楼后来表示，他的飞机以及另一架参与空袭的入侵者试图逃脱北越喷气机的追击，误入中国南部后被击落。

不少美国飞机在越战期间进入中国领空后被击落。
On 9 April 1965, four J-5s of the 24th Regiment of the 8th Air Force Division in Lingshui, Hainan, encountered four US F-4Bs over the sea south of Sanya and, during the confrontation, the US aircraft fired missiles to shoot down one of their own F-4Bs.
On 20 September 1965, J-6 Gao Xiang and Huang Fengsheng of the 10th Regiment of the 4th Division of the Hainan Air Force in Haikou, Hainan shot down a U.S. F-104 fighter over Haikou and the American pilot was captured.
On October 5, 1965, four J-6s of the 9th Air Division in Nanning, Guangxi shot down a U.S. Navy RA-3D (RB-66) reconnaissance aircraft in a single column and in turn over Longzhou, Guangxi.
On 12 April 1966, J-6 Li Laixi of the 26th Air Division in Suixi, Guangdong shot down a US Navy A-3B attack aircraft over the sea east of the Lei shoulder 7b peninsula.
On 24 April 1967, two F-4B fighters of the USAF intruded over Guangxi Panxing, one of which was immediately shot down by the 30th Regiment of the 10th Artillery Division, while the other was shot down by four J-5s of the 78th Brigade of the 24th Air Division based at Ningming, Guangxi, taking 1 minute and 30 seconds.
On 1 May 1967, four US Navy A-4B attack planes invaded the skies over Dongzhong, Guangxi, two of which were immediately shot down by 30 Regiment of the 10th Antiaircraft Artillery Division, taking 55 seconds.
On 26 June 1967, the twin J-6s Wang Zhushu and Lu Jiliang of the 16th Regiment of the 6th Division of the Hainan Air Force in Haikou shot down a US Navy F-4C fighter over the south of Sanya.
Chinese balloons are very lucky they didn't come to Russia otherwise 100% Russia will shoot them down like what happened in 1983 when a S Korean airliner was shot down in east of Russia and hundreds of people died when the plane flew "accidentally and mistakenly" over Russia east coast where some USSR missile base located.
