Sick Last Week

(2018-08-12 09:19:28) 下一个

The poor sleep on Fri Aug 3 night caught up with me and cold
exposure from wearing a (new) tanktop Sun night didn't help.
I felt slightly hot in the head and body aches on Mon and
lack of energy on Tue. It was Wed afternoon that I had a
bout of sneezes (for about five min). Thu, I felt strong
but sleepy after a restless night. Fri felt great and the
flu seemed gone. Sat morning, I did 15-min of breathing,
15-min of yoga, 15-min of weight-lifting, and a 25-min run.
It was fantastic.

I saw a water-stand at the side of the trail and thought
there was a running event. Indeed, I met many runners in
different sizes and shapes (very few in shape, though)
during the second half of my 3.5-mile trot and they had one
thing in common--they were all Indians. So this was a
community event. I smiled and said Hi to a few as I ran
toward them. Few responded to my greetings. Most were
expressionless, typical of first-gen immigrants from Eastern
tribes of the Globe, or maybe they were just struggling too
much and had no energy.

There are a lot to learn from the Indian culture. Yoga,
Buddha, and the idea of non-violence are only a few from
which I have benefited. Even many martial arts have their
roots in India.

Tribes, however, are fragile within a society evolved to
de-tribe humans and treat everyone as an individual. The
feeling of emasculation and anxiety must be shared by
first-gen Chinese and Indian immgrants alike. Going physical
is a great way to counter the mental stress. It seems many
know this instinctively.

Overall, this round of flu was very mild and tolerable. I
wouldn't be sure if I didn't sneeze. The last one was six
months ago. I wish all flus from now on are like this.

7grizzly 回复 悄悄话 回复 '暖冬cool夏' 的评论 : Thanks for your comments. I record any discomfort and health-related observations here in the hope of keeping myself vigilant and, using myself as a sample, passing some information onto my readers.

Tooth pain might also have to do with diet. I just bought Weston Price's "Nutrition and Physical Degeneration" and will report here once done. He was a dentist and examined nutrition through tooth decay. It should be interesting.
暖冬cool夏 回复 悄悄话 Good to know it was just a mild cold, and you recovered fast. Any kind of body discomfort, regardless of degrees, will remind us again the importance of being healthy. I had an almost unbearable tooth pain last week, and it put me in such an agitated suffering that at the moment I think I would give up everything for just the pain to go away. Luckily it only lasted a day and a night. Let's all try our best to stay healthy.
