Empty Mailboxes

At a main post office
the hall is pretty empty on Sat morning
even with reduced hours in weekend
A postwoman even mentioned
some old colleagues already got laid off
and she is going to be away for a few month
A two year old was wondering
along a row of the big mailboxes
figured out he could open those with keys
saying Hello to each of those empty ones
letting echo come right back at his giggling
It would be a very good hide and seek place
wouldn't it
Perhaps when he grows up
he might have to drive a long way to find a post office
Well, future will find its own way
to deliver to us
not much we could deliver the future
as we once thought when we were little kids
