Before Putin's invasion of Ukraine, many Europeans had fantasies about Russia and thought it could become an innocuous partner. And they put their critical lifelines such as energy into the hands of Putin. Last February, Putin pulled the trigger and almost choked the Western Europe. Europe has paid a price for their innocence.
With China, EU has made some progress. For example, they are planning a pan-EU ban on Huawei's 5G. But some still want to maintain economic ties. Europeans will learn another lesson with China. It's just a matter of time.
