A year and half into the trade war with China, the US is in an enviable position of strength with a record high stock market and 50-year low unemployment rate. In contrast, China’s highly debt-leveraged economy and housing market bubble make it vulnerable to any external pressure. Time couldn’t have been better for Trump to escalate the trade war further.
