Not just in China but also in USA, freedom of speech is conditional. In this case, Wall Street Journal used to have a very lengthy article about how Debg got to marry Murdoch. You can see the author tried to paint Deng as notorious Gold Digger (like slept with her real old English teacher so she could go to USA, etc., lots of juicy stuff) but at the same time tried to hide it because of the influence of Murdoch. Fair enough, Wall Street Journal soon was purchased by Murdoch. I think the author is smart enough not to say what he thought at the time. Otherwise, he would be out of job. Ha!
Of course this is a good thing for Wendy. She is made rich via her husband not only by alimony (still a huge amount even with prenup) but more importantly, by a career with her husband's help. She already has kids. All she needs at last is a great love life with a younger man. She has all the freedom now to pursue that. She is not being dumped, but maybe she is dumping him or she is given the freedom by her understanding husband.
