On paper, it makes all the sense to support the National Science Foundation. However, most American innovations are made OUT SIDE OF SCHOOLS. The industry has left the United States, taking the supply chain with them. For this reason, American so-called innovation at schools are very week, and the students are all Chinese anyways. SO the NSF money is really just helping China produce more talents, whereas the professors have a very hard life to get funding.
Trump is trying to choke the leftist schools, who use the NSF money to support their agenda.
