Biden administration has done a fine job recognizing the dangers of maintaining relations with China, and taking steps to decouple with it.
In the interest of time and efficiency, it might be better to add China to the list of embargoed nations. That way, by default, the US entities cannot deal with China at all, unless approved by the government in advance.
Today, the list includes the following countries:
-CUBA,
-IRAN,
-NORTH KOREA,
-SYRIA
Bangladesh to pay Russia in yuan for nuclear plant
By Ruma Paul
April 17 (Reuters) - Bangladesh and Russia have agreed to use yuan to settle payment for a nuclear plant Moscow is building in the South Asian country, a Bangladesh government official said on Monday.
Bangladesh is constructing the first of two nuclear power plants in collaboration with Russia's state-owned atomic company Rosatom in a $12.65 billion project, 90% of which is financed through a Russian loan repayable within 28 years, with a 10-year grace period.
US-China trade in goods hit a new record in 2022, according to data published by the US Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) last week. Total imports and exports grew 2.5 percent year-on-year to reach US$690.6 billion, breaking the previous record of US$658.8 billion set in 2018.
The US trade deficit with China also expanded by 8.3 percent year-on-year to reach US$382.9 billion in 2022. The latest figures indicate that demand from consumers and businesses remains high despite worsening trade relations between the two countries, and calls into question the viability of economic “decoupling”.
