In the past a few years, China sometimes played one country against another by switching its sourcing around, in order to coerce these countries to harm themselves. Once a countering mechanism is in place, China won’t be able to play this old trick as it will hit a wall with every country. A good example is the recent alliance of US, Japan and the Netherlands on semiconductor chips that effectively closed a loophole that China used to use to get around the U.S. sanctions.
