HK's fall to the Chinese dictatorship will galvanize the West into taking actions. The EU and the US were not on the same page with respect to how to deal with China in the past. Now China's aggression in Hong Kong serves as a reminder that they have a dangerous common foe.
One can expect that HK issue will always be on the agenda in EU/US's dealing with China, and will be one of the reasons for the future sanctions.
Yes, Hong Kong now becomes a regular Chinese city with the death of One Country Two Systems. But China will pay a steep price for it.
