《福布斯》杂志发布最新“全球富豪榜”，“股神”巴菲特的个人财富从一年前的100亿美元飙升至620亿美元，一举将领衔《福布斯》全球富豪榜13年的美国微软公司创始人比尔-盖茨从上拉下马。作为世界首富，他早就许诺去世后会捐出自己的财产。2006年夏天，他义无反顾地将自己在伯克希尔的价值370亿美元股份捐给了慈善机构。相对他对慈善事业的热心，自己的生活却比较俭朴。巴菲特如此低调地生活，其实是他金钱观、价值观和财富观的又一体现。他以自己的劳动成果来回报众生，以自己的财富能够最大限度地回报社会作为自己人生的最大目标。多少年来他的善举一次次感动世界，他对慈善事业的热爱和贡献，有目共睹。

2006年8月30日，巴菲特76岁生日那天迎娶了60岁新娘艾丝翠"孟克斯。艾丝翠"孟克斯是前妻介绍巴菲特认识的，她与巴菲特已同居28年。

不少人可能会想，当时世界第二富翁的婚礼，况且是一起生活和等待了28年的女友，一定会规模宏大，十分奢侈和豪华。然而，出乎意料的是，这场婚礼只有15分钟，女儿主持，异常低调，获邀前来的宾客也非常少。

巴菲特与60岁的艾丝翠穿着很普通。15分钟婚礼结束后，他们与客人一起到附近一家海鲜餐馆就餐，没有蜜月，第二天巴菲特按时到公司上班。更令人感到惊讶的是，婚礼举行前几天，一向生活简朴的巴菲特让女儿陪他专门到一家自己能够享受折扣优惠的珠宝店选购了一款漂亮的钻戒，作为给艾丝翠的信物。
