When he began sophomore, the school began to come back to normal. College is three years away, but I could feel the tension school started to put on parents’ and students’ minds.

Principal is the top leader of the school. Comparing with the middle school principal, HS principal is much more involved in administration. Each week parents would receive a letter from principal’s office. In those letters, the happened events and up-coming events for each grade were announced and shared by all parents of all grades. From those letters, I got a whole picture for the coming three high school years.

Companied with his ambitious statement was his Quarter 1 GPA 3.62 which put him in the group of honor students. What an unexpected achievement he accomplished! I was obsessed by the number and the designation. I looked at them again and again, thinking it a miracle.   From 1st grade through 9th grade, it’s the first time I felt his school being proud of him! I need to be more responsible on his academy.  His endeavor plus my support will make his dream come true.

My boy is a bright boy, this is what I have been thinking since he was little. This was confirmed by the Chinese doctor who gave his IQ evaluation when he was in 1st grade, and reassured by school phycologist who executed IQ evaluation again when he was in 7th grade.  But after years of his academic failures, I was more realistic. I have to admit the impact his disorder brought him is much bigger than what I have thought. My poor boy is the victim of the disorder. Acceptance brought me calmness.

His massive academic improvement brought me immense happiness and hope. I expressed my tremendous joy for this, telling him how proud I am of him, his dream will not be a day dream if he keeps doing this well, or he might do even better in the rest two years. For the first time in his life, he smiled for his good academic performance.
