I love my daughter but I'm not an overbearing mother. My love towards her is a kind of admiration. I admire her quick wits, her beauty and youth, and simply her presence in my life. I'm amazed that I have such a wonderful teenager. How lucky I am. There's no way that I would put too much restraint and pressure on her. She's so delicate and slender, like a young, budding fruit tree in spring time.
Every now and then I see myself in her. I know she loves me too and it moves me to tears reading her letters to me when she's away. Yes, mother and daughter could genuinely appreciate each other. My daughter is my oldest child. I have two sons after her. My sons love me, too. But I can sense our relationship being different. Sons look at their mother as if looking into a fortress that provides support and protection, daughters look at her mother like looking into a winding brook or a tree that provides shade, refreshment and comfort. When she's tired she would lean on me and feel at home. When she's full of energy and joy she ventures into the outside world without looking back.
