如何看待宣传?
中国官方的宣传的确在利用这段历史造势。不过日本也是,比如朝日新闻的标题就是 Sugihara not the only Japanese to save Jewish lives(******asahi***/english/TKY201005030206.html)。大家都想突出自己当年善待犹太人的事迹。
其实那样的乱世,没有人清楚应该做什么,特别是对待这么一个遥远陌生的民族。等历史的尘埃落定,大家挑对自己有利的说就是了。
不过犹太人的「义人」称号不是随便叫的。何凤山和杉原千畝都是承担了很大风险,舍己救人,才被称为「义人」。而东条英机等日本战犯,虽然接纳了犹太人,却是出于政治考虑,或是职务内的行为,就没有进入「义人」的名单。
中国有功吗?
当时的上海不在中国政府的控制之下,所以放犹太人进来,的确不能说是中国的功劳。甚至,当时中国国民政府中的一些人,由于各种原因,并不同意接纳犹太人,比如驻德大使陈介。如果说上海是「敞开大门」,「欢迎」犹太人,我很难认同。
在上海的犹太人社区遗址,「摩西会堂」中的资料显示,日本将犹太人封锁在隔都之后,上海市民有自发为犹太人提供帮助。不排除是官方宣传。
一个有功的中国人:何凤山
有人认为何凤山的功劳没那么大,因为当时进入上海不需要签证。没错,但是犹太人需要签证离开奥地利。何凤山的行为是冒了很大风险的。
当时犹太人都是被限时离境,否则就要去集中营。维基上引用了这么一段话:
Jewish men were being picked up and put into concentration camps. They were told you have X amount of time to leave — two weeks, a month — if you can find a country that will take you. Outside, their wives and friends were struggling to get a passport, a visa, anything to help them get out. But embassies were closing their doors all over, and countries, including the United States, were closing their borders. … It started as a rumor in Vienna… ‘There’s a place you can go where you don’t need a visa. They have free entry.’ It just spread like fire and whoever could, went for it
上海这根救命稻草的出现真的是奇迹。
