Emmy时不时会给我们一个惊喜. 这次是诗歌在旺市(City of Vaughan) 的青少年比赛中获得第三名. 昨天参加的颁奖典礼, 竟然是意想不到的隆重.

中国人在加拿大向来以数学优秀出名, 能在写作方面获奖还是值得庆贺的, 尤其Emmy属于偏年轻的作者 (yonge writer), 进一步得到了评委的肯定和鼓励. 下面是扫描下来的Emmy的获奖诗歌Winter in Singapore.



评委给出的评语:

"Emmy Liu's flowing narrative paints a naturalistic picture from childhood: observing a "lark population on...black-sand beaches" in "winter Singapore". The use of the long line enhances the shoreline-setting and depth-perspective, and the use of repetition - "grey shallow sea...grey shallow sky" and "cities in the distance... cities I could not get into" -- accentuates the watery landscape and melancholic
air of memory".
